Location: Hazelton, BC (Gitxsan Territory)
Reports to: Executive Director
Employment Type: Part-time, permanent (18-22hrs/week, occasional evenings/weekends)
Starting salary Range: $28-32/hour, benefits package included

Organization Overview

Storytellers’ Society is a community-driven, place-based organization grounded in action-learning and reciprocal relationships. We engage Gitxsan, Wet’suwet’en, and non-Indigenous citizens in building community well-being through inclusive, culturally rooted programming that amplifies literacy, food sovereignty, and capacity-building.

Position Summary

The Program Facilitator will play a central role in supporting our diverse programs:

  • Community Capacity Building – Women’s Drop-In, community directory, inter-agency collaborations

  • Literacy & Essential Skills – Drop-in support, Christmas Gift of Literacy, monthly learning events, digital literacy and awareness initiatives

  • Food Security & Sovereignty – Community food share project, events like Seedy Saturday & Apple Pressing, Farmers Market Coupon Program

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging, values-aligned programs and services

  • Build strong relationships with community members, partners, and organizations to support program delivery, including volunteer management

  • Support individuals with one-on-one support and coaching 

  • Coordinate logistics for events and workshops, including use of The Learning Shop space and equipment

  • Promote programs through outreach and communications

  • You bring curiosity and openness to learning about Indigenous (specifically Gitxsan and Wet’suwe’en)  and non-Indigenous histories, and are committed to decolonial and inclusive practices

  • You communicate with clarity—whether in conversation, through writing, or using creative storytelling tools

  • You’re confident with everyday digital tools (email, Zoom, Google Docs, social media) and can help others navigate them too

  • You’re reflective and adaptable—able to adjust when things don’t go as planned and find creative solutions while remaining consistent and reliable to community and team members

  • You have education and/or experience working in adult learning and community-focused organisations

  • Above all, you share our belief in social justice and equity, reciprocity, ecological responsibility, and lifelong learning and participation
